Although medical treatments have allowed for individuals to have an improved quality of life, those diagnosed experience a myriad of feelings, such as the stigma attached to having the disease, shame, change in lifestyle, and fear of the disease’s exacerbation.  Individuals report feelings of anger, fear, loneliness, and helplessness.  Our Care Counselors are experienced in working with HIV/AIDS.  There are programs and counseling services geared toward HIV/AIDS prevention, which assesses risks as well as devising plans to reduce risks and assist one in making better choices.   For those diagnosed, counseling includes coping with the reality of having the disease, implementing plans and developing skills to maximize one’s long term health, and reduce spread of the disease.
