ImageOften difficult to control, impulse control issues are initially done because it initially feels good.  Examples of such include spending excessive amounts of money, stealing and gambling.  Impulse control problems have negative effects on one’s health, well-being, finances and relationships.  Impulse control issues arise when one fails to resist an impulse to engage in a particular action.  There is an increase in tension prior to engaging in the action, following feelings of pleasure and/or relief.  The result of the act includes feelings of shame, guilt or regret of committing the behavior.
