Self-esteem reflects a person's appraisal of their self-worth.

Self-esteem is represented by emotional states (triumphant/despair, pride/shame) as well as one’s beliefs (i.e. “I am intelligent/stupid”).  An individual’s behavior may reflect his/her self-esteem; for example is the individual Assertive/Timorous, Confident/Cautious?
